Mondiality

We believe that CSR goes beyond being a good corporate citizen and upholding ethical behaviour. It is also about actively caring. It involves our ability as a company to engage our employees in meaningful acts of reaching out and giving back.

How do we do this?  Through our Mondiality programme (Mondial + Responsibility).  Mondiality encapsulates our ethos of giving something back and investing in the community, charities, the environment and employee health and wellbeing. 

Our dedicated CSR advocate works tirelessly to involve our employees in activities and initiatives which help those around us.  In 2009 we were nominated for several awards including the National Business Awards Corporate Responsibility Award, and the Eco Citizen Awards in the ‘Green Business Campaign’.  One of our employees was also awarded Croydon’s Eco Citizen of the Year Award for making a real difference at Mondial and in the wider community.  Mondial was also commended as a ‘Green Guardian Green Business 2009’.

Through charitable donations and charitable actions, we helped over 30 charities in 2009, donating over £20,000.  These ranged from small local charities to larger national ones.  All the charities we help are nominated by our staff meaning they have touched their lives. In some way. At some point.

Mondiality organises a constant stream of fundraising events and activities, ranging from monthly Dress Down Days to supporting our long term partnerships.  In November 2009, we were delighted to support Children In Need, with 150 employees taking over £151,000 in donations.

Our ‘One More Gift’ Christmas campaign is in its 3rd year and in 2009 saw us raising money to buy breathing monitors for our local Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit and packing over 300 hampers for Elderly people and homeless charities.

We believe helping the local community is to help not just to give monetary donations.  Since 2001, we have worked closely with a local schools to mentor children and run workshops and workplace visits to get them thinking about their career paths and the opportunities available to them.

It’s not just schools we help.  We are involved in varied projects which reach out to many people within the community.  For example, in 2009, we ran a Garden Challenge at a local YMCA House and packed hampers to help local homeless charities.

As part of our Mondiality programme, each member of staff gets 3 days a year within which they can get involved with community projects and activities that benefit others.

Healthy, happy and motivated staff are the key to good customer service.  Our monthly ‘Wellness Wednesday’ programme runs a variety of workshops and activities on a Wednesday lunchtimes. In the past year we have experienced, desk massage, self defence classes, golf workshops and health check ups to name a few.

We also hold regular yoga classes and have held subsidised language courses.  For unusually busy days, we have ‘busy day helpers’ to help with overflow calls in the call centre and relieve stress by taking drinks and refreshments round the operational floors.

Mondial Assistance is part of the Allianz Group, supporting its commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 20% by 2012. As such, we measure business mileage, waste, paper usage, water and energy consumption.  Our Green Champions team of employees work extremely hard to maintain and introduce environmental initiatives.

Environmental events held recently include Green Christmas Fair, Swap Shop, conservation Days with up to 20 employees maintaining local countryside and Mondial remade Recycled Fashion Show, when 19 employees designed and modelled recycled outfits to help promote awareness of packaging waste.
